PM Shehbaz Sharif will visit Iran today to offer condolences on the death of President Ebrahim Raisi.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Dar and other officials, will visit Iran to offer condolences on the tragic deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, who were killed in a helicopter crash last week.
During his visit to Iran, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will call on Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and meet interim President Mohammad Mokhber to convey condolences on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan.
The visit follows the tragic death of President Ebrahim Raisi and other senior officials, who died after their helicopter crashed in poor weather in the mountains of East Azerbaijan province. They were returning from an inauguration ceremony of a dam on Iran’s border with the Republic of Azerbaijan when the helicopter crashed amid heavy fog on Sunday afternoon.
The charred wreckage of the helicopter, carrying Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian, and six other passengers and crew, was found early Monday after an overnight search in blizzard conditions.

After the incident, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei announced a five-day mourning period and named Mohammad Mokhber as interim president, directing him to ensure the election of a new president within 50 days, in accordance with the country’s constitution.
A day earlier, Iran launched an investigation into the helicopter crash, with Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri constituting an investigation committee. The findings of the investigation will be made public.
Meanwhile, Iranian authorities held the funeral procession for President Raisi on Tuesday.
