Flag-Hoisting Ceremonies Across the Emirates
At dawn, both the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General in Dubai hosted flag-hoisting ceremonies. Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi led the ceremony in Abu Dhabi, while Consul General Hussain Muhammad did so in Dubai, as families and community members gathered to sing the national anthem and show their patriotic pride. Ambassador’s Message of Unity and Pride
Ambassador Tirmizi delivered a stirring address emphasizing the timeless values of unity, faith, and discipline as cornerstones of Pakistan’s journey ahead. He thanked the 2.2 million-strong Pakistani community in the UAE and reiterated Pakistan’s resilience in overcoming challenges.
Grand ‘Jashn-e-Azaadi 2025’ at Expo City Dubai
Earlier this month, on August 10, Dubai’s Expo City hosted the Jashn-e-Azaadi Pakistan 2025—one of the largest Pakistan Independence Day celebrations globally. Organized by Emirates Loves Pakistan and Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), the flagship event drew well over 60,000 attendees, including Emirati dignitaries like Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Ambassador Tirmizi. Cultural Extravaganza: Music, Food, Awards & More
The day-long festival featured cultural performances from stars such as Sahir Ali Bagga, Natasha Baig, and Yousuf Bashir Qureshi. There were folk music showcases, children’s activity zones, art exhibitions, food courts offering Pakistani cuisine, and an awards ceremony recognizing community contributors—hosted by Sheikh Nahyan himself.
Community Contributions and Remittance Highlights
Ambassador Tirmizi also acknowledged the diaspora’s crucial economic role—especially through $7.9 billion in remittances—and their unmatched contribution to strengthening UAE–Pakistan relations.
Service and Education Enhancements
In line with community development, Ambassador Tirmizi revealed plans to roll out an online tracking system for passports and NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis), designed to streamline services for expatriates. Additionally, more Pakistani private schools are being encouraged to open branches in the UAE to provide affordable, quality education.
