Mobile Internet Suspended in Parts of Balochistan

QUETTA: Mobile internet services remain suspended in several areas of Balochistan for the fifth straight day, as authorities continue security measures following last week’s coordinated militant attacks across the province. Train services have also been halted as a precaution.

Provincial officials said the decision to suspend mobile internet was taken in view of the deteriorating law and order situation. However, with conditions gradually stabilising, authorities have decided to restore mobile data services from midnight.

While services were briefly restored in Mastung, mobile internet remains unavailable in districts including Nushki, Kalat, Khuzdar, Awaran, Panjgur, Sibi and Turbat, where suspensions have been imposed at different times due to security concerns.

Meanwhile, railway operations from Quetta to other parts of the country continue to remain suspended. Officials said train services, including the Jaffar Express and the Bolan Mail, will resume once security clearance is granted and the situation improves.

Security forces are continuing search and clearance operations in Nushki district and other affected areas following the recent attacks. The number of militants killed during these operations has risen to 197.

In Nushki, armed attackers had targeted multiple government installations, including a police station, judicial complex, police lines, the deputy commissioner’s office and a Frontier Constabulary camp. Several government buildings were also set on fire.

Although the town has been cleared and commercial activity has resumed after three days, security forces are still conducting search operations in surrounding mountainous regions to prevent any further threats.
