Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has instructed the Foreign Office to accelerate visa processing and enhance transparency, with a special focus on overseas Pakistanis, investors, and business travellers.

Review of 2024 Visa Facilitation Reforms

Chairing a high-level meeting on Friday, Senator Dar reviewed the progress of visa facilitation measures introduced earlier this year under his guidance. The meeting, attended by senior Foreign Office officials, evaluated reforms implemented across Pakistan’s diplomatic missions to simplify procedures, reduce delays, and integrate digital tools for improved service delivery.

Dar stressed the importance of cutting bureaucratic hurdles, noting that quick and efficient visa services are critical for both strengthening ties with the Pakistani diaspora and attracting foreign investment.

“Timely visa issuance is essential for promoting international business engagement and fostering stronger relations with our overseas community,” he said.

Focus on Economic and Diplomatic Engagement

The Deputy Prime Minister directed the ministry to identify additional areas for improvement and ensure that missions abroad adopt best practices in visa processing. He highlighted that streamlined procedures not only facilitate personal travel but also serve as a catalyst for economic partnerships and trade opportunities.
